KIVI Nuclear Engineering New Year Meeting
The chairman opened the annual meeting with the annual meeting agenda. Besides reviewing the activities of 2017, he gave an impression of the plans for 2018 and invited members to contribute their ideas. He further gave an insight into the development of the section's membership.
The chairman thanked board member Aliki van Heek for her long-standing contribution to the department. Earlier, she had given up the chairmanship due to accepting a position at the IAEA in Vienna. During 2017, it had become apparent that even the 'regular' membership of the board was difficult to combine with work in Vienna, so she resigned in that capacity as well.
The treasurer gave an insight into the section's financial position. The treasury committee had audited the accounts and found them to be in order.
The DYG gave an overview of activities in 2017 and planned activities for 2018. A highlight from it: from 23 June to 27 June 2019, the DYG is organising ENYGF (European Nuclear Young Generation Forum) together with the Belgian nuclear youth. Bringing in this event is a special achievement.
Mr Streefland gave a particularly interesting presentation on Professor Kistemaker and enrichment technology. The presentation by Arjan Bos of URENCO covered the history and developments from 1970 to the present.
