Nuclear power policy in Sweden and the Netherlands
Three policymakers share their insights on the developments and future of nuclear power:
- Carl Berglöf, the recently appointed national nuclear growth programme coordinator at the Swedish Ministry of Climate and Enterprise, comes over from Stockholm and discusses Sweden's ambitious growth plans. These plans include expansion on top of the current six reactors, with operational targets from 2035.
- Martijn Schut, director of nuclear energy at the Dutch Ministry of Climate and Green Growth, leads a team of 50 people preparing to build new reactors in the Netherlands.
- Ewoud Verhoef, director of Research & Development at COVRA, presents a tip from the new COPERA report on final disposal, and the 2050 Master Plan on space requirements, both to be published soon. The new reports assume the construction of two new reactors and four SMRs in the Netherlands.
