Peng Bo FPSO Soft Yoke Mooring System
Description
Lecture evening with topic:
"Design, fabrication and installation of the Peng Bo FPSO Soft Yoke Mooring System"
In summer 2009 the connection was completed of the massive FPSO Hai Yang Shi You 117 to the Soft Yoke Mooring System in the Bohai Bay in China.
The Soft Yoke Mooring System, designed and built by Bluewater under an EPC contract with ConocoPhillips, is the largest of its kind.
The mooring tower of the SYMS consists of a 1600 t steel jacket tower pinned to the seafloor with piles weighing 1800 t and a 2750 t topside housing a 17 m high swivel stack. The bow of the FPSO is fitted with a 1300 t steel structure, supporting a 2150 t yoke assembly that connects to the mooring tower.
The 323 m long and 60 m wide FPSO with 40,000 tons topside is the largest moored in shallow water. The water depth of 27 metres results in a minimal throat clearance of only 2 m.
The presentation will high-light the challenges and solutions in the design, fabrication and installation of the SYMS mooring tower and connection of the FPSO.
