Risk management in Iran
Description
As obvious as professional risk management is by now in Europe, it is as complicated in burgeoning Iran. During a unique visit to our country, Emad Roayaei, a leading Iranian scientist, talks about the catching-up that the Iranian oil and gas industry is doing with regard to Health, Safety & Environment.
The 62-year-old Roayaei spent a good part of his college years in Michigan, where he obtained a Ph.D in Chemical & Electrochemical Engineering. He returned to his homeland after his studies and pursued an exciting career in research serving the energy sector. Today, in addition to his scientific activities, Roayaei's positions include being a member of the Iranian OPEC Steering Committee and being a board member of Bam Farayand Systems a renowned consulting firm in Iran. He has numerous scientific publications to his credit.
As Iran's sanctions are slowly but surely being lifted, international cooperation is becoming possible. The pioneers of Dutch-Turkish risk management consulting firm Riskonet were quick to catch on. It is therefore the management of this agency that brings Emad Roayaei to the Netherlands on 4 November 2016.
Exclusively for KIVI members, Emad Roayaei will speak on 'HSE management implementation in the Iranian oil & gas industry' on 4 November. He will discuss in detail the complex implementation and enforcement of physical safety measures in a country that still struggles daily with restrictions in international trade.
