Description
Lely is an international manufacturer of leading innovations for the agricultural sector, operating in 60 countries. Its more than 1,600 employees are engaged in the development and production of various agricultural machines, agricultural vehicles and advanced feeding and milking systems. Dairy farming is central to this, from feed collection, storage, preparation, dosing , milking, feeding, housing, housing and up to cattle health.
Lely welcomes KIVI members to Maassluis for a behind-the-scenes look at Europe's most sustainable building. The technology behind automatic milking with the current model milking robot, the Astronaut A4, will be explained. This will be followed by a tour of the factory hall where the machines are assembled entirely according to lean manufacturing principles.
Iwan van Bochove, Senior manager Product Development, will address the topic of sustainability. Topics here will include, cow welfare, striving for energy-neutral agriculture, and how robots are given a second life at Taurus.
