Meet & Greet with KIVI Sustainable Technology
The sheets of the presentations can be found under 'Documents'
We would like to invite you to the "Meet & Greet 2024" meeting. We would like to keep members as informed as possible about the activities of the Sustainable Technology Department KIVI (DT) and provide an opportunity to get to know each other and the board.
The theme this time is: Sustainable development.
The first part of the day, with 2 presentations, is about sustainable development in construction and the principles behind it, and the second part of the day, with 2 presentations, is about sustainable development through optimisation in the automotive industry. The interactive presentations will definitely help us a little further on how we as Engineers can get an idea of what sustainable development is. In addition, there will be plenty of time to interactively exchange views on this.
The Meet & Greet meeting will take place at the Antropia Congress Centre in Driebergen, adjacent to the Driebergen-Zeist railway station. Centrally located and easily accessible by public transport but also by car, thanks to a large adjacent car park.
The programme is as follows:
15:00 |
Welcome with coffee & tea |
15:30 |
Opening by Wim van Beers, chairman DT |
16:00 hrs |
Sustainable building Speaker: Mr Edwin van Noort, director of certification organisation DGBC (Dutch Green Building Council) |
Mr van Noort talks about sustainable building and cites examples. He gives us a brief overview of the main certification methodologies in DGBC and discusses the development in NL and in the EU in policy around certification of sustainable construction. And he outlines the impact of certification on installations in construction. |
16:45 |
Lecture on sustainable construction and the role of the NVBT (Nederlandse Vereniging Toeleverende Bouwmaterialenindustrie). Speaker: Mr Andre Meester, director of the NVBT |
What do we mean by sustainable building? What does it require? And when is a structure sustainable? The building materials industry united in the NVBT inventories data on the environmental impact of its own production and makes them available to the construction chain. The BBL (Building Works Decree for the Living Environment) contains rules on the safety, health, sustainability and usability of buildings. The BBL designates the Determination Method Environmental Performance of Building Works. The presentation will address how we are going to build more and more sustainably, thus contributing to the realisation of a circular building economy. NVTB's vision of making the entire construction chain more sustainable and also focuses on effective implementation and practicability. reference works: https://rijksoverheid.bouwbesluit.com/Inhoud/docs/wet/bbl https://milieudatabase.nl/nl/milieuprestatie/bepalingsmethode/ |
17:30 |
Mutual discussions and further introductions over a light hot meal. |
18:15 |
Coffee in meeting room |
18:45 hrs |
Presentation: Smart Thermal Management Speaker: Sebastian Visser, Senior manager at DENSO automotive Germany GmbH |
Smart Thermal Management is a sustainable development for electric vehicles resulting in:
Denso has used AI, optimisation software and put together an algorithm to develop this system so that many heat demand variables are controlled and directed with minimal heat loss. Predictably, home or community battery development will have a similar system. A battery at the right temperature can absorb energy more easily and supply more energy. |
19:30 |
Sustainable development how do you do it? Speaker: Ton Mekel board member subject group DT KIVI |
Possible structured way for sustainable development. This presentation will outline an approach used in the automotive industry. Using project timelines with design gates, you arrive at a structured approach. Of course, content and location of product criteria are important ingredients. The presentation will include questions on what tools can be used in the industry. |
20:30 |
Closure of the presentations by the chair DT and further opportunity for follow-up discussions |
21:00 |
End of the meeting. |
Cost: €10 for KIVI members and €35 for non-members. Students may attend free of charge . Especially for them a good opportunity to make contacts and broaden and deepen their knowledge through the presentations and discussions.
