Description

Suiker Unie develops, produces and processes sugar and sugar specialities. Its sugar production plants in Dinteloord, Vierverlaten and Anklam (northern Germany) are among the most modern in the world.

In addition to sugar, the sugar factory produces all kinds of by-products; virtually nothing is lost from the sugar beet. Sugar production has a high level of sustainability. Further sustainability efforts are under way. As a biomass supplier, Suiker Unie is at the beginning of a bio-based production chain.

After the reception, there will be a short introduction about the history and organisation and a short film about the production process from beet to sugar.

This will be followed by a guided tour of approximately one and a half hours during which the features of the sugar beet campaign will be explained and where possible shown.

After the factory tour, we will go to the steam museum where machines and equipment from Suiker Unie's colourful past are on display.

NB: Due to the tour, visitors should be of good physical health and wear closed footwear.
Furthermore, wearing trousers is required. The minimum age is 16.

Parking is available near the visitors' entrance
