Public opinion on agriculture, horticulture and food supply is characterised by terms such as animal-unfriendly, high environmental impact, scale expansion out of control with major threats to the living environment and public health.
Time for a broad public discussion, according to State Secretary Henk Bleker of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation.
Former Minister of VROM and Queen's Commissioner in Groningen, Hans Alders will lead the broad public discussion. The State Secretary will write a Cabinet vision letter on mega-stalls in October 2011.
