Floris Drijver - TNO
During the 5G Masterclass, Floris Drijver of TNO will elaborate on what exactly 5G is and how it works. He explains this on the basis of the characteristics, building blocks, frequencies and typical components in the 5G network.

Jos Bredek - Hanzehogeschool Groningen
Jos Bredek of Hanzehogeschool Groningen goes into further detail during the 5G Masterclass on what exactly you can do with 5G. The possibilities and applications of 5G will be explained using various practical examples.

Speakers

Floris Drijver is a research scientist within the networks department of TNO. After studying Electrical Engineering, he works at TNO on 5G, IoT, cloud and (ad-hoc) networks. He is involved as a system integrator in fieldlabs that TNO designs and builds in the Netherlands in cooperation with various parties. One example is the 5Groningen fieldlabs. The focus here is mainly on adding and testing new 5G technologies, developed in TNO's 5G testbed (Hi5). In addition, Floris is also a delegate and rapporteur within 3GPP's 5G standardisation group SA5. In this group, he leads a study on the integration of satellite networks in 5G.

Jos Bredek is a lecturer/researcher at the Hanzehogeschool. As a lateral entrant, he has been working in the HBO-ICT programme for 15 years. There wa he werkzam at Rabobank ICT, KPN and Atos Origin. Besides teaching for the Network & Security Engineering major, he is also banned as a researcher at the New Business & ICT lectorate. From that role, he researches applications with 5G, mostly together with students and parties from the field. For example, the smart patato and the Pieper Kieker He is also a team coach in the 5g student battle.

About the 5G Masterclass

The 5G Masterclass is an initiative of 5Groningen, programme of Economic Board Groningen(EBG), together with the University of Groningen and Hanzehogeschool Groningen. It is an educational, interactive event that takes place once a month. Each Masterclass has a 5G-related topic. The classes are introduced by experts from top players in the telecom world such as KPN, Vodafone, Huawei and TNO. Afterwards, there will be room for questions and substantive discussion.
