Society continues to evolve, as do the fields of education and research.
For instance, personalised education and shared laboratories are on the horizon. This also requires the campus to innovate. The campus is a small town, a place where students and staff should feel comfortable, where study results can grow. A place where interaction takes place between research, education and business.
To this end, together with the RUG and Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, we are building a smart-campus testing ground, where many wire-free innovations in the field of frequencies, Wi-Fi, 5G, LoRaWAN and IoT solutions will be tested in practice. We will do this using education- and research-specific use cases.
With the collected (anonymised) data, we can link different factors, and then use intelligent applications to improve the working and living environment of students and staff.
The smart campus is an intelligent building that contributes to better education and research. We are also investigating which platform is suitable for securing the data and keeping it accessible. Security, privacy and data retention are the main areas of focus here.
About the 5G Masterclass
The 5G Masterclass is an initiative of 5Groningen, a programme of the Economic Board Groningen (EBG). It is an educational, interactive event that takes place once a month. Each Masterclass has a 5G-related topic. The two-hour classes are introduced by experts from top players in the telecom world such as KPN, Vodafone, Ericsson, Huawei and TNO. Afterwards, there will be room for questions and substantive discussion. This unique event is free to attend, all you have to do is register here. The 5G Masterclasses will be organised at different locations. Register early to be sure of a place!
