Green data centres at high altitude
Description
In October 2013, the Telecommunications Division of KIVI organised a theme evening at the high transmitter tower of Lopik (IJsselstein). Both the visit to the tower and the lectures made this theme evening very interesting. As only a limited number of people could participate, there is still a waiting list. That is why we are organising this excursion again, for which places are still available.
KIVI's Telecommunications Department hereby invites you to a theme evening on the use of mediator towers spread across the Netherlands. For this purpose, we will go to the high transmitter mast of Lopik (IJsselstein). Originally, Alticom mediator towers enable the transmission of signals for television and radio. Since 2009, Alticom has also been using the space in the towers for data centre services. We will receive lectures on the operation of the towers, the set-up of spaces as data centres and the use of spaces for telecommunication purposes, with a guided tour of several floors attached.
