Description

KIVI Department of Rail Systems is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Started in 2007, KIVI Afdeling Railsystemen has grown into a department with over 200 members and a steady activity agenda of about four activities per year where quality is paramount. KIVI Section Railsystems hereby invites you to join us in celebrating our 10th anniversary at the brand new Railcenter building in Amersfoort. The programme will consist of a plenary session with a keynote speech by Micaela dos Ramos, director of KIVI, on KIVI and (rail) engineers in these times. There will then be an opportunity to attend three keynote sessions of 20 minutes each. The event will end with a networking reception where you can catch up with colleagues and business associates over a drink and a bite to eat.

Upon entering, you can indicate which selection sessions you would like to attend, but for the sake of organisation and seating arrangements, you are kindly requested to make your choice known upon registration.

The selection sessions have all been confirmed. Unfortunately, it was not possible to organise a choice session on the Hoekselijn. Instead, a choice session will be offered on the equally challenging conversion of the metro RET rail safety. Below you can read what to expect in our choice sessions where renowned speakers will engage with you:

1. Self-driving vehicles - Tom Jansen (Signalling and Safety Consultant - Ricardo Rail)
Tom Jansen will take you into the world of self-driving vehicles. Already fully established in some environments, far from accepted in others ... where do we stand and where do we want to go with this technology?

2. ERTMS simulation - Henk-Jan Schonewille (train safety systems system specialist - ProRail)
Henk-Jan Schonewille is happy to show you the new ERTMS test lab. Completely new and not quite finished yet, so really special! Henk-Jan will explain to you what can be tested, how it works and what the advantages and disadvantages are.

3. The new track professor at TU Delft, Rob Goverde, speaking
At the time of the lustrum event, Rob Goverde has been active as the new track professor at TU Delft for about 2 months. What challenges in education and research does this internationally recognised rail pioneer dare to take on? Where does he get his inspiration? He tells you himself.

4. Conversion of rail safety metro RET - Renco Lambermond (project leader - RET)
Large-scale conversion and renewal projects of safety-critical systems? Renco Lambermond knows all about it. He is leading the conversion of rail security at RET in Rotterdam and talks about his experiences in this very large and long-term project which is currently being finalised.

5. Railalert - Robert Oosterhof (director - Railalert)
Quite (actually too) briefly, Railalert is the safety watchdog for work on the Dutch rail infrastructure. ZERO accidents is and remains the ultimate goal of this organisation for and by the rail industry. But what does it take to achieve that goal every day? Robert Oosterhof explains.

Transportation:
If coming by train: Railcenter is within walking distance from Amersfoort station.
If coming by car: Sufficient parking is available near Railcenter.

In 2017, KIVI Division Railsystemen will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. During 2017, various activities will focus on this anniversary. All regular activities in 2017 will be offered free of charge to members of KIVI Division Railsystems, and at reduced rates to non-members.
