Description

Intensification of rail transport has over the years placed increasing demands on logistics processes on Dutch railways. The High-Frequency Rail Programme (PHS) will further reinforce this trend. Public attention is often focused on the major stations and main lines of the rail network. However, KIVI Rail Systems Section would like to take you to the locations where all logistics meet every day: at the end of the tracks. Sidings and sidings, what are the experiences of operators and users, what efforts are needed to set up critical operations efficiently and profitably, and what developments in the current market determine future developments to balance supply and demand. To highlight all the ins and outs of this topic, KIVI Rail Systems Division has found the following experienced speakers from the industry willing to give a presentation

Speaker(s)

Jeroen Bretveld, Regional Manager Achterhoek Rivierenland at Arriva, will talk about how Arriva has been able to turn transport operations on branch lines in the Achterhoek, which were once listed as unprofitable, into a profitable business in a relatively short time and with a train fleet of critical size.

Martijn Blokker, Cluster Manager for Transport Analysis and Capacity Development at ProRail, will explain how to prepare the ends of the track for PHS, whereby the historically grown situation and the emerging demand from PHS have to be aligned, taking into account the inevitable boundary conditions from the environment.

Marten Busstra, Business Improvement Manager at NedTrain, will explain how NedTrain distributes their service capacity across the entirety of the sidings where they operate, and how this has recently resulted in a strategic addition of small service locations spread across the country. Marten Busstra and his team were winners of the Maintenance Awareness Award 2014 for their location strategy service locations
