Mini Seminar Infrastructure
Description
Looking differently at infrastructure
Spatial quality.... that is not only looking at the use, but especially at the experience and future value of the space around us. A road is a necessity in an environment that experiences both utility and inconvenience. It is therefore not the road, but the environment that is decisive. From this core idea, how do you create support for infrastructural interventions? How decisive is the human dimension in both the scope of the project and in weighing up interests? How do you create infrastructure that balances amenity, usage and future value?
Een andere weg... naar functiegericht wegbeheer
Goudappel Coffeng is working with Tauw on the link between mobility and management and maintenance. Using prognosis models, they calculate the effects of traffic measures on traffic flow, accessibility, quality of life and management and maintenance costs. What do you save on maintenance if you bundle traffic on through-traffic roads? How 'bad' is it if a once crucial bridge is now not renovated, but closed to heavy traffic? And what measures elsewhere are then needed?
Lochem municipality teamed up with Tauw to find a new way of maintaining roads, as the available management and maintenance budget was no longer sufficient. It led to a new view on road maintenance as well as a new interactive model, which the municipality of Lochem is now working with. This model shows in real time how maintenance costs change if you change road profiles by, for instance, bundling traffic on through-traffic roads, preventing cut-through traffic or assigning specific residential functions to areas. Combined with the TouchTable, this new model makes it possible to jointly examine the effects of all kinds of scenarios in working groups. The effects are shown in real time, allowing a joint effective and targeted search for the most desirable situation - with desired functions and targeted cost savings.
