Essent Amer power plant
Essent has already deployed nearly 4 million tonnes of biomass at the Amer power plant to produce green electricity. Currently, nearly one million tonnes are deployed per year.
The biomass - of various origins and compositions - consists mainly of wood pellets.
Another of Essent's research is the so-called " biocoal", a woody biomass that after heating to a maximum of 330 degrees Celsius (torrefaction) turns into a type of charcoal with properties similar to those of coal.
The logistics system consists mainly of the unloading quay with pneumatic ship unloader , the transport plant and the silos (4 x 5000m3).
After the reception, Mr Ophof gave an introduction on using biomass as an alternative fuel and the many aspects involved followed by an interesting discussion . This was followed by a tour of the various business units under the guidance of Mr van Strien. Afterwards, there was an opportunity for networking and asking some questions.
