TR AGM + Visit to Vanderlande
Description
We are pleased to invite you to the 2011 General Assembly (ALV) of the Department of Transportation. The ALV will be combined with a visit to Vanderlande Industries in Veghel.
During the excursion, some innovations at Vanderlande will be explained. For several years, the company has been working on making material handling systems use less energy. Since a year, the focus has also been on materials and 'Cradle to cradle'. The conventional conveyor belt undergoes a metamorphosis while its function remains the same. The 'pilot' is explained and demonstrated.
To supply supermarkets with all goods on time, an intermediate storage is needed where bulk goods are made into a mixed output. Vanderlande Industries is working on a fully automated version of this. They are not the first with this, but claim to offer the best price-performance. Market, concept and a demo are on the programme.
The number of places available for the field trip is limited. Members of Department of Transportation Science have priority for participation in the excursion.
