Description

As usual, this year will also start with the Annual General Meeting. This will be followed by a simple sandwich meal, after which this year there will again be a number of interesting substantive lectures followed by opportunities for discussion. The themes this year once again have an international accent and illustrate our contribution as Dutch companies.

Before the break, first an update on the state of affairs at the ITA (International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association):
- An introduction by Johan Bosch on the General Assembly during the 2016 World Tunnel Congress in San Francisco.
- Arjan Luttikholt discusses the Young ITA and talks about how the young engineer is trying to find his way within the ITA. Very topical also in our own ITA TTOW.

The first technical lecture is given by Eelco van Putten and Siefko Slob and deals with the design of the tunnels for Mexico City's new airport. The extremely weak foundation, the influence of settlement due to years of extracting groundwater for drinking water supply, not to mention the seismic activity in this area, poses challenges for the designers.

Time after the break will be taken up with the Femernbelt Link, the world's longest immersed tunnel recently put out to tender, with Dutch companies participating in the consortia contracted:
- Martijn Smitt will kick off and discuss the immersed tunnel and what is involved in successfully concluding a tender for a 20 km long tunnel;
- Frank Stikkel will then discuss the dredging and land reclamation work within this project and the challenges overcome here to meet the client's stringent requirements.

You can indicate separately when you register whether you will participate in just the lecture evening, or also in the members' meeting and the sandwich meal.
