KIVI Innovation Drinks Twente
It was another successful edition of the KIVI Innovation Drinks with over 50 participants. The speakers managed to captivate the audience with their interesting presentations. During the drinks afterwards, the atmosphere was convivial and there was plenty of networking.
Description
Students and young professionals in the field of engineering are invited to a new edition of the KIVI Innovation Drinks Twente. This edition will start with two inspiring presentations about High Tech Systems and will conclude with an informal networking drink.
We are proud to announce presentations by Albert Borreman (DEMCON l Focal) and Herman Offerhaus (Chair Optical Sciences UT).
DEMCON l Focal is the integration and development partner with focus areas Industrial Precision Inspection, Medical Optical Systems and High Tech Optical Systems. They develop and realize inline precision inspections and optical measurement systems for customers in the automotive, life sciences and semicon industries. With a multidisciplinary approach, they implement customer-specific design and development. DEMCON l Focal helps with the integration of customer product lines or with modules integrated in high tech or medical OEM clients.
Albert Borreman is project manager at DEMCON l Focal. He is responsible for grant projects aimed at maintaining and expanding the IP of Focal. Besides, he is engaged in customer-specific projects, often involving spectroscopy. In recent years these were projects in the areas of Retina Oximetry, Image Cytometry, Spectral Imaging and Optical Coherence Topography.
Herman Offerhaus is senior researcher in the Optical Sciences group at the University of Twente. He will speak about vibrational microscopy, and quantum and broadband interference, as part of his own research and the research done in the optical cluster of the University of Twente. Further, he is going to talk about the technical aspects of scientific high tech versus industrial high tech, with as examples OCT and rail-inspection. He will also discuss the future of (integrated) optics, innovation and progress, and (last but not least) high tech applications with low tech optics.
