Keltan ACE technology
Description
Vanadium-based Ziegler-Natta catalysts have been the work horse for commercial production of ethylenepropylene-based elastomers (EPDM) for decades. However, the most recently established production sites for the manufacturing of EPDM make use of so-called metallocene catalyst systems. These catalyst systems offer higher catalyst mileage and improved energy efficiencies and, moreover, provide a basis for new product developments.
After many years of research in advanced catalysts systems for EPDM, LANXESS has now decided on a full implementation strategy for its proprietary Keltan ACE™ advanced catalyst technology. In recent years pilot plant results have been validated during production trials in Geleen. Starting by mid-2013, the largest EPDM
production asset in Geleen will fully operate on the basis of Keltan ACE advanced catalyst systems.
In this presentation the Keltan ACE catalyst innovation driven by sustainability will be highlighted, and examples of new Keltan ACE products will be shown.
