Meniscus, the shock absorber
Description
Skiiing, soccer, hockey and other sport activities are fun and also good for your health condition. But, just like any intensive sport, they come with risks - such as a torn meniscus, a common sports injury that can be very painful and impossible to permanently repair. Through the BioMedical Materials(BMM) Public Private Partnership, DSM researchers are hoping to change this, as they work towards a groundbreaking prototype for an artificial meniscus. The project partners include DSM Biomedical and DSM Ahead (Material Sciences R & D,) both based at the Chemelot Campus, which together provide expertise in the field of polymer solutions, their design and processing.
