Sustainability viewed from a different angle
Description
The subject of the cycle is sustainability, where all kinds of forms of sustainability will be reviewed.
On Thursday 29 September 2011, Mr Cees Miltenburg will give a lecture on behalf of Sunergy/ RGS Development BV on the subject:
Development of the Industrialisation of the Casting Process for the Production of Silicon Wafers for Solar Cells.
Wafers are currently sawn from blocks and result in many losses of the precious silicon.
Casting avoids these losses, and will significantly contribute to the necessary cost reduction of solar power. The pilot machine is in the start-up phase and is still roughly 2 years away from the milestone to start mass production.
The second lecture of the evening will be given by Mr Maarten Veerman of engineering firm Witteveen&Bos.
This lecture has the topic: Buildings that consume little energy. With the subtitle 'Are these buildings also sustainable?'
Witteveen & Bos works in various disciplines on sustainability and energy saving. In his contribution, Mr Veerman will elaborate on his area of expertise and take a critical approach to the subject.
The second evening in the cycle is scheduled for Wednesday 16 November 2011 further information will follow
