Drones
Description
An unmanned aerial vehicle or "drone" is a pilotless aircraft. They are usually remotely piloted, the "pilot" may be in close proximity, but also thousands of kilometres away. There are also autonomous aircraft, which fly according to a programmed command.
There are several names by which such a device is known: UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems), Micro Air vehicle (MAV), Autonomous Aerial Robotics (AAR), Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS), microcopter, mini UAV or small UAV, rotor UAV or RUAV.
The word drone is originally an English word meaning dar (male bee). "Drone" is originally a military aviation term for an unmanned aircraft. In aviation, meanwhile, for the more general meaning, in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) rules, it is referred to as RPAS
