The Uithof line
The Uithoflijn is one of the tastiest and most talked-about public transport projects of the moment.
Tastemaker for the true public transport enthusiast because of the technical challenges facing the project organisation.
Tastemaker for any interested party because of all the political fuss, which planning, costs and realisation caused. A politician was even killed on it.
There were long discussions about the route because of space requirements, capacity of intersections, liveability of.the surrounding area; furthermore, many issues surrounding the influence of sensitive equipment in the centre at the UMC had to be overcome.

The line will soon be commissioned. Testing of the timetable recently started. A good time to take a closer look at and visit the various aspects of the line.
We have found Martijn Donders, Tram Infrastructure Project Manager of the line, willing to give a presentation on this and to accompany us on an excursion to part of the line in the Uithof to explain things in more detail.
During his presentation, he will discuss, among other things: the history, transport value and capacity of the line, the route ultimately chosen, the technology used, the issue of interference with medical equipment UMC and, finally, the realisation.
Of course, there will be plenty to get answers to all your questions.
Practical
- The number of participants is limited to 25.
