Description

Utrecht city centre is undergoing a substantial change. The area around Central Station has been a construction site for several years and will remain so for some time. Besides the building plans of the NS, the Jaarbeurs, the Utrecht municipality and Rabobank, Klépierre, as owner of Hoog Catharijne, the best-known shopping centre in the Netherlands, is also investing heavily. Hoog Catharijne has to become the shopping heart of the Netherlands again.

The renovation of Hoog Catharijne is in full swing. The new Vredenburg has already been in use for a few years and meanwhile the new buildings at Vredenburgplein and Catharijnesingel are taking their final shape. All conversions with the shop open, which adds an extra layer of complexity to the construction process.

Out of public view, a parking garage of no less than 1,200 spaces was also built under the Entrance Building in a very special way. In order to gain speed, construction was carried out simultaneously upwards and downwards. A constructive and logistical top achievement.

During this information afternoon, we will update you on the plans for Hoog Catharijne, the organisation of the project and its surroundings, and the constructive challenges in this enormous project. At the end of the afternoon, we will also visit the construction site. You will be welcomed by Klépierre Vastgoed Ontwikkeling and Van Rossum, consulting engineers.
