Customised excursion Loop of Linne
Description
In the middle of our province, just below Roermond, lies the largest meander in the Meuse: the Loop of Linne.
The Loop of Linne will undergo a transformation in the coming years. This redesign is relevant for the required additional high-water protection Along the Meuse, and will create space for the development of over 200 ha of dynamic and species-rich river nature. The integral redevelopment of the Lus van Linne is one of the projects of the Area Development Midden-Limburg.
Ballast Nedam Grondstoffen BV has taken the initiative to realise this redevelopment. Together with the Limburg Landscape Foundation, the municipality of Roermond and the Province of Limburg and Rijkswaterstaat, a plan study was worked out earlier, after which the process of granting permits etc. was completed. Meanwhile, plenty of activities are already underway in phases.
Excursions within the plan area have already been possible in October 2015. In consultation with Ballast Nedam, the KIVI Region Board NML has arranged a customised excursion for our members. During this excursion, we will take a boat and foot trip within the Lus van Linne planning area to see the work, activities and nature up close. Beforehand, we will first receive an explanation of the initiative, the objectives of the project, insight into the permit file, what the phasing looks like, and what bottlenecks there are/were. And a preview of what the Loop of Linne will look like: New life in the Loop of Linne
