Museum from wax roll to DVD
Description
For engineers, it is good to learn about the history of engineering. Therefore, this time we have a Sunday afternoon visit to the museum "from Laundry Roll to DVD". This museum is located in Boekend, a hamlet west of Blerick, along the A73, in the farmhouse "Egelboshof". This historic farmhouse dates back to 1440. In this museum, which was established a few years ago, the history of sound and image is made visible and audible. The collection contains many special and rare devices and is of interest to everyone. During a guided tour, many of these museum pieces are demonstrated. Your eyes and ears will be wide open!
Who doesn't have a TV or radio? Ever bought an LP, CD or DVD? Ever seen a photograph? Sound and Vision, everyone deals with it. Yet there is particularly little focus on history, on preserving equipment. Too little is realised that we are talking about important cultural-historical heritage, which has had a major influence on the development of our current society. Getting to know this piece of technical history inspires and develops creativity. You are confronted with extraordinarily innovative techniques , revolutionary design, entrepreneurial spirit and industriousness of hundreds of thousands of workers of often no longer existing companies.
14.00h Reception with coffee and flan
14.30h Guided tour and demonstrations of the equipment on display
16.00h Convivial afterglow with drinks
17.00h End of tour
If there are more than 30 participants, the group may be split up and the programme adapted slightly. Start and end times will then remain the same.
