The tour began with an introduction by Wout Terra, Transport Planning Manager, on the origins of Connexxion, its role in the Netherlands and how it is organised. Attention was given to how concessions from clients, such as there are municipalities, provinces etc, are acquired. Here it was striking how tightly conditions are formulated prior to negotiations, making it difficult to stand out from other providers. Terra also went into detail about how transport planning comes about.
Following this, a visit was paid to the workshop, led by Ruud Heidenrijk and Ton Spek . Prior to the excursion, lunch had been organised in the Opkamer of the La Place Bridge Restaurant over the A4 near Hoofddorp. Connexxion provided transport by scheduled bus from the restaurant to the Uithoorn branch and back afterwards. With a turnout of 25 participants , it was a successful activity.

Connexxion will provide transport, from the restaurant to the Uithoorn branch and back afterwards. Mr W. Terra, Transport Planning Manager, will give a presentation on Connexxion Public Transport. Mr R. Heidenrijk, Coordinator of Technology District Central North, and Mr T. Spek, Workshop Manager Uithoorn, will discuss technology in more detail. This will be followed by a visit to the workshop.
