How are organs built ?
At the company with eight employees, the craft of building and restoring organs is impressive. We were shown around by Hans Elbertse, the3rd generation of the family, who started in Utrecht in 1917. The stock of wood from various logs is their proud possession and can last for decades. In the workshop where an organ from Brielle had been completely stripped, the ceiling can be taken out to achieve the desired installation height. The long list of restoration projects mainly includes organs from the 18th and 19th centuries. The tolerance achieved with wood is remarkable. On the second floor is the pipe department with metal and wood, where tuning is the final operation. 18 visitors participated in the bounded participation.
