North-South Line in Amsterdam
This is already the fifth time that Region North Holland is organising an excursion to the North-South line. The fantastic project, costing Euro 3.1 billion, has very many facets, requiring different civil engineering solutions. For example: tunnel drilling, immersion, in-situ construction and caisson construction. In addition, many Metro stations are being built and the Central Station subway. Meanwhile, train and city traffic must continue. The tour and explanation was given by a very knowledgeable TU engineer. Setbacks and learning moments were also discussed in detail. The excursion, max 50 people, was again oversubscribed. The enthusiasm of the tour leader and the participants ensured that the explanation and tour lasted an hour longer. To everyone's satisfaction.
