The North-South line project remains interesting and the max number of participants (40) was again well oversubscribed.

The line has a long history. Discussion since 1960; Decision to start 1997; 2008 subsidence in Vijzelstraat; Two major contractors bankrupt. Scheduled completion October 2017.

Security of the entire Metronet, over Euro 100 million, will be carried out by Alstom. Project manager ir W.C. van Spronsen led us through the chosen system, which for the time being has not opted for driver-free operation. No fixed block protection, but for a safe space around the moving or stationary trainsets.

During the presentations to 20 people, the other 20 visited the Rokin station under construction. Special attention was paid to the logistics of materials. These will be applied over the already existing track from Amsterdam North.

Lunch was enjoyed in the beautiful building of Arti et Amicitia; Rokin 112.
