After the TenneT Vijfhuizen activity planned on 11 March 2020 - due to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic - had to be cancelled, the board of KIVI Region North-West now has the pleasure of inviting you to attend two lectures and a company visit to TenneT Oostzaan on 11 September next.

Introduction
As can be read almost daily in the media, the challenges for national grid operator TenneT TSO (Transition System Operator) have become significantly bigger and more complex in recent years. The energy transition and economic growth require more and more capacity from the electricity grid. As a result, congestion is expected in more and more places - see for example the monthly congestion newsletters on the TenneT website.

In the first part of this afternoon, we will get an overview of relevant research, background and solutions/projects that TenneT is working on. For example, the existing Oostzaan switching station will possibly play a role in the major grid expansion project "380 KV Noord-Holland Noord".

A new 150 kV switching station is being built at the 380 kV high-voltage substation in Oostzaan, feeding Liander's transformer substation. To guarantee electricity supply and minimise the risk of outages, Liander is building a new 50-10 kV transformer station right next to TenneT for the Zaan municipalities. In the future, these substations can supply Amsterdam-Noord and the port with the extra electricity they need.

The 150 kV switching station project will be presented in the second part of this afternoon.

Finally, we will visit the construction site of the Oostzaan 150 kV substation.
