We will start the evening with a short General Assembly of KIVI NIRIA Region East.
After this, Radboud Hack will give a presentation entitled:
"If hitting doesn't help you have to hit harder"
- the financial crisis from a systems perspective -

The financial crisis has firmly entrenched itself in our economic and social reality and does not seem to be going away from it for the time being.
Three things in particular stand out: supervision has failed, economists and financial experts don't know either, and measures do not lead to solutions but rather to new surprises.
The question arises as to whether this crisis has a solution, and whether that solution can still be found within the current social order.
Systems science examines the laws governing the behaviour of large, complex and unpredictable systems.
In this lecture, we therefore discuss the financial crisis not from a financial-economic, but from a systems perspective.
It focuses on two questions:
- How is it possible that a successful, and apparently stable system like the financial system can fail so suddenly and behave in such an unpredictable way?
- Which control strategies can be used to bring the financial system back into line?
In answering these questions, we use insights from chaos theory and organisational science. The answers will lead to a new vision of democracy and a paradigm shift in political thinking.
We will end the evening with drinks at the Drienerburght bar.
