Company visit Frisia Salt
Description
Frisia Zout B.V. has been based in Harlingen since 2000 (started in 1995 as Frima) and is part of Europe's largest salt producer esco, european salt company. Frisia Zout supplies an important part of the salt demand in the Netherlands and Western Europe, particularly in applications in the chemical and food industries.
Furthermore, the company is involved in innovative research around the theme of salt and the location, in Harlingen harbour, lends itself well to research into sustainable electricity: Blue energy salt-sweet transition.
Frisia Zout introduces us to salt extraction, salt processing and the coordination with parties in the production process.
The issue of coordination with parties in the surrounding area is also discussed.
A section of the population is making its voice heard and has set up the action group "Leave the salt be" for this purpose. The protest focuses on the subsidence that would result from salt extraction.
We take an extensive tour of the company.
Beforehand, Mr J. Weewer (quality and environment manager) talks about the origins and background of the company, the quality systems used and how to deal with opposition from the surrounding area. Mr Weewer expects a lively discussion during the Q&A session!
