Company visit Health Hub in Roden
On Tuesday 3 May, we visited the Health Hub in Roden. The Health Hub, founded in 2015, is a project organisation and a partnership between the Hanzehogeschool, the business community and the government, among others. We were updated on the current state of affairs by director Peter Boonstra.
The Health Hub's focus is on innovation for the medical technology sector. This is a rapidly growing sector due to higher and more complex care demands (Health-Innovation). Creating new business activity is at the forefront of this.
The Health Hub brings together students and businesses, but anyone with an idea can come up with one. The activities have already led to several startups. The presentation was followed by a tour of the various laboratories. It was an interesting meeting, which was evident from the participants' reactions.
Description
Health Hub Roden is a project organisation in which knowledge institutions, companies and government work together on research and innovative solutions in the field of Healthy Ageing and medical technology since its start in 2015. The essence is to share knowledge, develop and search for innovative solutions.
Companies gain access to newly developed knowledge by employing teacher-researchers. At the same time, lecturers are given the opportunity to learn about the latest techniques and skills from industry in the field. Students are directly part of the work process within the Health Hub. This allows them to put theory into practice and contribute to innovations. Entrepreneurial students can pursue a project in the fourth year in the form of internships or graduation.
The Health Hub also aims to create new business activity, in addition to focusing on innovation for the medical technology sector. This sector is growing rapidly due to higher and more complex healthcare demands (Health-Innovation).
Parties currently involved in this initiative are: VDL Wientjes, IMDS, Alvimedica, BioTransfer, Advantage, ISD Noordenkwartier, Association Springboard, Province of Drenthe, Province of Groningen, Municipality of Noordenveld, Groningen-Assen Region, TCNN, HANNN, UMCG , University of Groningen, Noorderpoort and Hanzehogeschool Groningen. The Hanzehogeschool is responsible for the Health Hub Roden as main contractor.
