Netherlands Aerospace Lab.
Description
The Netherlands Aerospace Laboratory (NLR) has been in existence for over 90 years. This highly exciting organisation supports knowledge and product development for civil aviation, for defence and government security, industry and space.
NLR's research includes the development and manufacturing of composites and structures. NLR also has several wind tunnels. These are used to measure flight characteristics of aircraft and helicopters, involving aerodynamic properties, noise measurements, drop tests, etcetera.
During our visit to NLR, the following themes in particular will receive attention:
- sustainable aviation
- innovations in aviation with lighter and stronger materials
- visit to the German Dutch wind tunnel, in which a model of a new aircraft will be displayed (subject to change)
- test hall for aircraft structures and a facility for manufacturing composites
It promises to be a super interesting activity!
