Description

KIVI NIRIA/UT Thesis Prize 2007
'Doing more with less'

The KIVI NIRIA/UT prize is an annual award of €1,000 for an exceptional internship or bachelor's thesis by students of a technical programme at the University of Twente. The prize is awarded to a student nominated by his/her lecturer on the basis of a thesis of an exceptional internship or bachelor's thesis in the field of the year's theme. ONLY internship or bachelor's theses (not MSc theses) are eligible.

The theme for 2007 is 'Doing more with less':
New technology must use the available 'resources' sparingly, be it energy, computing power, raw materials or space. Whether it is a large civil engineering structure, new medical technology, a chip with nanoscale components: smart and economical design is becoming increasingly important. The motto 'Doing more with less' of visionary Richard Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983) is more topical than ever. This year's KIVI NIRIA/UT prize rewards the best thesis that stands out for this 'more with less' approach.
