Lecture on Perfusion
The board of the Groningen Engineering Association invites the members of KIVI Region North to a lecture on Perfusion on Tuesday 22 September 2020 in the main hall of the Gorechthuis, Hortuslaan1, 9751 BE in Haren by Messrs:
Prof Henri G.D. Leuvenink, Professor of Transplantation Surgery Department of Surgery, UMCG,
Dr Arjan van der Plaats, Chief Technology Officer Organ Assist
The gentlemen will give a duo presentation in which Arjan will do most of the talking to highlight the technology. What it is about Donor organs are cooled and kept on ice before being transplanted. Without circulation, the quality of the organ quickly deteriorates and it often cannot be used again. Organ Assist's perfusion system maintains organs by mimicking body functions by pumping a blood-like fluid, supplied with oxygen, through the organ.
Perfusion is a medical term for fluid delivery. Organ Assist's perfusion system is the only one that can work with this fluid. In the operating theatre where UMCG performs organ transplants, Organ Assist's various devices are used.
You can read more information in this article and/or on the Organ Assist website.
