On 2 October last, we (some 14 KIVI members) were welcomed by employees and management of United Care BV, in Groningen.

After coffee and tea, and especially the excellent catering (cakes), we were first treated to a presentation of the company. A clear story by Mr Jan Stevensson ( director) painted a picture of the company's past and future. His clear vision, mission and policies have paid off in recent years. A new business premises, new products, new website and, above all, down-to-earth management have been central. This has even led to them being nominated for the "Entrepreneur Award 2015".

After the presentation, we were given a tour of the company in which we were explained all facets of production. This tour ended in the company's demonstration room where we were allowed to play "patient" ourselves. With 2 nurses in our midst an extra dimension. Under the motto Naturally in motion, the various lifting and transfer systems were demonstrated. Product names like Wendy, James, Jamy were demonstrated with the highlight being that people from KIVI themselves were briefly used as patients.

After a closing presentation on "becoming visible" by Johan Mooibroek, the visit was rounded off with a drink and snack.

On behalf of KIVI Board RNN, we would like to thank the people of United Care BV once again for this inspiring afternoon.

We wish the people of United Care BV every success in winning the 2015 entrepreneurs' prize and would like to stay in touch about the company's steps towards becoming THE TILSPECIALIST of the Netherlands.

Description

Lifting and transfer specialist United Care eases healthcare

Naturally on the move. That is the slogan with which the company United Care presents itself. Last year, the lifting and transfer specialist moved from Winschoten to business park Euvelgunne in the city of Groningen, under the leadership of director Jan Stevenson. From the new accommodation, the innovative developer of aids for care and welfare institutions wants to further expand its leading position.

The image of the Reitdiep, which can be seen in the renewed company logo, is significant. Just as a river forms naturally in the landscape, United Care wants to look flexibly at the products that are made and the people who use them. It does not look at the limitations, but rather the possibilities. We deliver tailor-made solutions. For us, everything revolves around enabling people to function independently in their own environment for as long as possible. Our products play a supporting role in this. We also offer aids used for people who are heavily dependent on healthcare.

This involves development, manufacture, advice, sales, assembly, instruction, maintenance and service. Products developed and manufactured in-house find their way to hospitals, rehabilitation centres, institutions for the disabled, homes for the elderly and individuals still living at home.

United Care has set up its own knowledge centre, UCare Learning, and has a SkillsLab where education days, training courses and advice are provided.

Despite the recession, United Care is doing well. By continuing to look critically at its products and services, the company aims to grow. The newly occupied premises are already ready for the next step.
