Description

As we expect you to turn up in large numbers, we have decided, in consultation with BioMCN, to reserve two days. When registering, please indicate which day you prefer and whether you are unable to attend on the other day. We will try to take this into account.
BioMCN is the first in the world to produce bio-methanol on an industrial scale using an innovative and patented process. Bio-methanol is chemically identical to regular methanol but made from the sustainable raw material glycerine instead of natural gas. By using less fossil fuel, BioMCN and its customers contribute to a better environment.
Among other things, bio-methanol can be used as a fuel by itself or as a fuel component and also as a raw material for paints, plastics and in fuel cells.
BioMCN, founded in autumn 2006, is thus responding to national and European government policies to promote the use of green fuel in petrol and diesel. A recent European directive states that by 2010 more than five per cent of fuel should consist of biofuels. Currently, that share is less than two per cent.
Due to this directive as well as rising fossil fuel prices, the bio-fuel market is currently experiencing rapid growth and development.
BioMCN produces methanol from natural gas and steam in a continuous process. By 'cracking' natural gas (splitting substances at a high temperature into smaller molecules), methanol is produced. Replacing the raw material natural gas with glycerine, a by-product of biodiesel production, produces bio-methanol.
