Description

SC Cambuur.
History:
When VV Leeuwarden had returned to the amateurs in 1964, the sc Cambuur foundation was established on 19 June 1964.At that time, Cambuur received an annual subsidy from the Municipality of Leeuwarden of 110,000 guilders. In the first year, Cambuur had 45 contract players.
They were divided into three teams. In 1992, the municipal subsidy stopped in its entirety. As a result, other sources of income had to be found. Cambuur took on a much more businesslike face over the years. SC Cambuur Leeuwarden BV, as the club is now officially called, has a BusinessClub that provides Cambuur with the necessary finances. But the Kern van Cambuur also contributes a large sum to the BV every year.In the 44-plus years of Cambuur's existence, the club has had several highlights.
The champion team of 1964-1965
First of all, of course, the promotion in the first year from the 2nd division to the first division. Furthermore, Cambuur participated 9 times in the nacompetition for promotion to the premier league. But the absolute highlight was the first division championship in the 91/92 season and playing in the PTT Telecom competition in the 92/93 and 93/94 seasons. In this last season Cambuur unfortunately relegated again to the le Division. In the 97/98 season, Cambuur promoted again. This time via winning the nacompetition. At the end of the 99/2000 season, Cambuur again relegated to the First Division.

Cooperation between KiKa and SC Cambuur
You may have noticed by now: the KiKa-printed sign that has recently been hanging in the Cambuur Stadium. For those who haven't seen it yet or for those unfamiliar with the name KiKa: the KiKa foundation (Kinderen Kankervrij) raises funds exclusively for the benefit of child cancer research. It also organises other child cancer-related activities aimed at less pain, struggle, more cure and quality. Cambuur and KiKa are actively working together to raise funds for this charity in this way.

The cooperation between KiKa and Cambuur has taken shape, among other things, through 'fight for life' badges on the tracksuits of all selection teams. Also, the first selection did the warm-up for the home match on 14 September 2007 against RBC Roosendaal in KiKa T-shirts. The similarities between KiKa and SC Cambuur are clear: "They are both organisations under construction and like KiKa, I also see Cambuur-Leeuwarden growing rapidly to the highest level". SC Cambuur organised in cooperation with KiKa the battle for the Kika Cup in 2007. Some 40,000 euros were raised for the KiKa foundation then. Last year, the proceeds of the Cambuur Gala in Leeuwarden went to the KiKa foundation. This was a sum of over 50,000 euros. In total, SC Cambuur donated over 100,000 euros through actions for KiKa.
