Description

Since October 2011, Vitens has had a new location at its disposal for research and development in the field of high-quality water technology. The Vitens Innovation Centre (VIC) is a research location specially designed for pilot research on behalf of Vitens and technology suppliers. Vitens has designated an area around the VIC with an area of 150 km² and containing over 2,200 km of water supply network as the Vitens Innovation Playground: VIP. Vitens is using the VIP - in which, for example, Leeuwarden is also located - to design an intelligent water supply together with sensor suppliers and ICT companies: the Smart Water Grid.

Vitens wants to use the VIC and VIP to facilitate the development of high-quality technology and offers space to companies and researchers outside Vitens to develop technology. The intention is to create an 'open innovation platform' through collaboration with partners and knowledge sharing.

A very interesting visit for anyone working in water, purification technology, sensoring, measurement technology, maintenance etc.
