Description

Philips Healthcare has developed Ambient Experience as a 'multisensorial' product that generally provides a positive experience with the effect of reducing patient anxiety in a hospital environment.
This system brings together components of theoretical psychology and technical development with the aim of putting the patient at the centre of the care process.
In this presentation, the introducer will briefly discuss the technology used and will also explain which aspects of psychology are supported. The number of studies conducted by Philips Research together with specialists to determine the effect on patient experience and staff care will also be discussed. This will be illustrated during the visit in the MRI room, where patients usually have a certain level of anxiety regarding the MR machine, and the PET-CT uptake room where patients are injected with radioactive tracer to visualise the tumour. Here, a low anxiety level during the examination is essential to avoid detecting (also) non-tumours.
In children, the effect can be very great (perception: what was scary before, now becomes 'cool')
