This is the Software Café

The Software Café is a brand new meeting place and knowledge platform for software professionals in the high-tech and manufacturing industry. It is part of the Software Community, a collaboration initiative launched earlier this year by Mikrocentrum together with five leading high-tech companies: ASML, Canon, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Vanderlande Industries and VDL ETG. The aim is to strengthen software development in hardware-driven environments.

Expect open discussions, practical insights, shared challenges and forward-looking perspectives. This first edition focuses on one essential question:

The challenges in increasing the value of software in a hardware-driven environment

Software is a critical success factor in high-tech mechanical engineering, but many organisations remain hardware-driven. At the same time, software quality increasingly determines the long-term value of systems. AI accelerates innovation, but also increases complexity and responsibility. Choices in software architecture, testing and data strategy determine future maintainability. Mikrocentrum Therefore, learning & development becomes essential: software professionals need to continuously build new skills, share knowledge across disciplines and develop a common language with hardware teams.

We see many organisations struggling with the same questions. The Software Community was created to bring software professionals together, reflect, share experiences and shape how AI, maintainability and training can strengthen the role of software across the systems lifecycle.

And we kick off with the first Software Café

You may know our now well-established Techcafé. The Software Café is based on the same concept: experts share their insights and knowledge in a talk show format and there is plenty of room for networking. During this first Software Café, the stage is set for the ambassadors of the Software Community, who will share their views and address the theme 'how do we increase the value of software':

  • ASML
  • Nicoletta Maistor, Department Head R&D Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Yolanda van Dinther, Director Software Development Vanderlande Industries
  • Robert Bijl, Director Technology Platform
  • VDL-ETG Wim van Beek, Group Manager Software

Programme

  • 15.30 hrs: Walk-in
  • 16.00 hrs: Talk show
  • 17.00 hrs: Drinks & networking

Why participate?

The Software Community is built around real challenges from high-tech environments where hardware and software must work together over long life cycles. You will recognise shared issues, experiences and insights from peers. Expect perspectives that connect to your daily practice and insights that you can immediately apply to your work the next day.

The Software Café brings together software professionals and other Tech makers to exchange ideas and explore innovations. During this edition, ASML, Canon, Vanderlande, VDL ETG and Thermo Fisher Scientific will share their insights.
