Bio Base Europe Training Centre
Description
We will be guests on 7 June at the relatively recently opened Bio Base Europe Training Centre in Terneuzen, which will be officially opened the following week.
Bio Base Europe is the first open innovation and training centre for the bio-based economy in Europe.
Flanders and the Netherlands have joined forces to build a state-of-the art research and training centre to accelerate the economic growth, innovation capacity and sustainable development of our society.
Bio Base Europe Training Centre initially focuses on training process operators for the bioprocess industry. There is a training facility in which process operators are trained for the purpose of working in bio-based and biochemical companies in and far beyond the Channel Zone as well as training units for the other forms of renewable energy and industrial techniques being solar, wind and water.
Besides a training centre, Bio Base Europe Training Centre will also be a centre that aims to stimulate entrepreneurship and networking within the bio-based economy. It will be a place where companies and start-ups can go with questions about bio-based products and processes.
Another part of Bio Base Europe is the Pilot Plant. This Pilot Plant should close the gap between scientific feasibility and industrial application of new biotechnological processes. Thanks to the Pilot Plant, the actual operating costs and specific strengths and weaknesses of new biotechnological processes can be estimated before expensive large-scale investments are made. The Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant is a one-stop-shop where the entire value chain can be carried out in a single installation, starting from the green biomass feedstock to the bio-finished product. It focuses on second-generation technologies in which agricultural waste streams and non-food crops are processed into biofuels, bioplastics and other bioproducts.
The Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant is an example of what we call 'open innovation'. It is accessible to companies and research institutes from all over the world. Situated in the Port of Ghent in Belgium, the Pilot Plant is accessible to companies and research institutes from all over the world.
We now have the opportunity to visit the Training Centre. Unfortunately, we have to reserve the visit to the Pilot Plant for another time
