Cargill
Description
UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES, THIS VISIT CANNOT TAKE PLACE ON 11 OCTOBER AND 12 DECEMBER.
The activity has been moved to thursday 24 january 2013!
On 24 january 2013 we will have the opportunity to visit a unique company in the Netherlands. The company is part of Cargill Netherlands and is located in Sas van Gent.
Maize Wheat
Cargill's plant processes maize and wheat into products for the food industry.
The company was founded in 1911 and even then it processed maize and wheat with glucose and starch as end products. After a while, the company was renamed CPC (Corn Products Company).
Through a number of acquisitions, the company came into the hands of the international company Cargill (operating in 66 countries and employing 142,000 people) in 2002. This group with its wide variety of products in agriculture, food, industry and finance owns the old CPC through Cargill Netherlands.
Cargill in Sas van Gent still processes maize and wheat into starch, starch derivatives and glucose syrups. These products serve as raw materials for producers within the food industry including confectioners, breweries, beverage factories and dairies. But the products also find their way into other industries.
Over the years, much has been invested in the Sas van Gent site. For instance, its own power station was built and process water is purified on its own site. Environmental awareness is of paramount importance.
The company also works with modern techniques, such as converting raw materials into end products using enzymes.
A few years ago, a new plant was set up next to the plant to make alcohol from residual products.
In short, a very unique company that is worth visiting for all disciplines within our association. In addition, Cargill is also always looking for people who can add something to its production
