Deltawind is an energy cooperative with around 2,500 members and a number of wind farms on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee. In recent years, Deltawind has increasingly developed as a social organisation, in which energy, sustainability and welfare play an important role.

In September 2024, they moved into the new office on the outskirts of Oude Tonge, which supports the cooperative's ambitions in everything. A sustainable building as a 'clubhouse' for employees with space for other organisations to make presentations. An energy desk has been set up in this building to help people make their homes more sustainable. The building itself was built with attention to biodiversity and water quality, using many types of wood. Each time we looked at which type of wood could be used with attention to sustainability and quality. A 1.5-metre-deep greenhouse has been placed across the entire south façade of the building, acting as a climate façade. The building is net energy-positive and equipped with PV panels connected to a battery or linked to the smart grid solution of electric vehicles. The building was voted the best wooden building in the Netherlands in 2024.

Bergh Bouwsystemen acted as main contractor for this new building. Koen Haest, director of Bergh Bouwsystemen, will take us through a presentation on sustainable building with wood.
