Description

As part of KIVI's 2017 annual theme Circular Economy, a lecture will be given on new policies regarding household waste collection and processing in Zeeland. From waste to raw material. This lecture will take place at Heros Sluiskil, after which we can see for ourselves how incinerated household waste is further processed for useful application in the chain.

The lecture will focus on various forms of waste collection (such as 'reverse collection' and DIFTAR (differentiated rates for household waste collection) and will provide an overview of current processing methods for various waste streams in Zeeland. The (im)possibilities of source separation versus post-separation will also be explained.

At Heros, we can then see how AEC bottom ashes are received, separated and reprocessed for useful application as building materials. With highly advanced installations, they break, sieve, separate and filter about 650,000 tonnes of bottom ash into a sustainable granulate using magnets and non-ferrous separators.

You are welcome (after registration) on Tuesday 7 November 2017 at 2pm at Heros Sluiskil. You will receive an itinerary and programme for this excursion a week beforehand.
