Jansen Tholen BV was one of 2 Zeeland companies in the MKB Innovation top 100 of 2015. They earned that spot in the top 100 because of its fully automated mussel incubation and harvesting installation. The reason for this project was that catching and harvesting mussel seed using a MZI (long line system) is very labour-intensive and inefficient. This needed to be improved to meet the transition conditions for conversion from bottom fishing to MZI. Improve efficiency, ergonomics, safety, environment and energy saving.
During Contacta 2015, the public award for the most innovative Zeeland company was presented to Jansen Tholen BV.
