Science Café 'From virus to NS: graph theory in practice'
Science Café'From virus to NS: graph theory in practice'
Everyone knows butter-cheese-and-eggs. But do you also know the puzzle of the wolf, the cabbage and the goat? The dilemmas behind the NS railway booklet? And what does this have to do with the spread of viruses? All these things can be described mathematically by 'graphs'.
Prof Arend Rensink (Computer Science, University of Twente) shows that this can lead to surprisingly clever solutions. Hans van der Laan & Pim van Leeuwen (Master students Computer Science, UT) show how they used graphs to crack the video game Portal. Talkshow host: prof. dr. ing. Dave Blank (research advisor Saxion). The Science Café is organised by Studium Generale in cooperation with KIVI Students Twente.
