The Future of Schiphol
Description
KIVI NIRIA Students Twente, in cooperation with the student associations ConcepT and Isaac Newton, is organising a lunch lecture entitled "The future of Schiphol" by Hans Heerkens.
The national airport Schiphol is an important link between the Netherlands and the rest of the world. But Schiphol's growth lags behind that of its competitors. Airports such as Dubai threaten its position as a transfer airport, increasingly stringent environmental requirements limit expansion possibilities and the takeover of KLM by Air France may lead to flights being moved from Schiphol to Paris.
According to some, there are only two possibilities: either Schiphol grows into a mega airport, or it ends up as a provincial field on the outskirts of Europe. But are there other possibilities, which might be better for the Netherlands?
These and other questions will be addressed in the lecture by Hans Heerkens, UD at the Faculty of Management & Governance and one of the lecturers at the Aeronautical Engineering Minor.
Participation is free, a sandwich will be provided.
